"When the Sun Goes Down" at the Annex 4/18/08

A new tune that's gonna be on our record coming out this summer, check it out!

Merch oh Merch....

merch
Just so you all know getting this merch order out is soooooo complicated!!
They asked me to send the files like 10 times and change the files like 15 times and flatten the files like 20 times and so on and so on.
And I’m not a designer our designer quit cause he is now running bad boy creative!! so we are stuck and somehow we need to get t-shirts and stickers and posters. I just wanted to vent and tell you how hard it is. I mean I could write like 3 new songs easier then doing this merch order. Anyway I hope your all having a good day and when you buy our t shirt or see our poster remember we sweated for that shit…
Love peace and rock and roll

starting to record vocals!! yeay!!

Our record that’s coming out august 19 to the stores is almost done!
Were done with all the instrumental tracks an now all that’s left
To record is vocals.
Its so exciting were almost at the end!!
Although vocals take time. More time then other stuff but it
Depends on the song some go faster then others.
I already sang, “come away” cause we are having it
Mixed in the UK since Robert Wyatt sang on it and we wanted to
Get that British sound!!
Now starting this Tuesday I will start to sing the rest of the album.
There are 4 new songs that we are recording
It’s exciting and very different to sing the new stuff.

All the other songs ive been singing for years….

Well we will keep you posted on the recordings and how it all goes.

Love peace and rock and roll….

Sun, Sandwiches and Sass at Moose A Palooza 2008

Just returned from a rockin' good time at Southern Vermont College in beautiful Bennington, VT. My mother grew up in Bennington and in many ways it's been a second home to me, so it was great to finally pound my drums on the VT hillside! Check out the view:

SET LIST:

My House
Ordinary
Come Away
Float
No One (Alicia Keys cover)
Sun Goes Down (new jam!)
Fly

Big thanks to Mary, Jennie and Tia for their hospitality and to Ray Ray D for her brilliant rendition of Fly!

It was an excellent time and we hope to be back soon! Until then, keep your eyes and ears peeled for more from RS.

Peace, love, etc.,
Zach

Hanging in the studio

So we've been in the studio, recording our album, for a couple of weeks now. It's such a trip! Great place ("Pulse" in Manhattan), great producers (JK and Karl) , great team (Dave engineers; Chris, Adam, Steve ... are around to make shit happen...), and of course we've been hooking it up big time! It's sounding even better than we expected!!

Here are some picts, way more picts and movies to come...

Robert Wyatt's first pass on "Come Away"

The song is being mixed right now by Steve Orchard (who's worked with U2, Peter Gabriel, Travis...) and with all the amazing tracks Robert recorded, it should be off the hook!!

Rockin and Rollin

So, let me give you the backdrop..... It all started in sept. 07; i was hangin with one of my closest friends here, who happens to be a kick-ass bass player and who happened to play with this really great singer songwriter called Asi in a band called Running Still that i secretly wanted to play with for a while but didnt want to step on any toes, if u know what i mean. So, as i said, we were hangin, shooting the shit, talking about life and all that beautiful stuff musicians talk about.... I was coming out of a musical hiatus and was ready to get back in the grove of things. But i was looking for an intimate musical experience where friendship and personnal interactions were the highlights. I was tired of prostituting myself left and right, being left at the end of the night with nothing else to hold on to but a bunch of dollars. Running Still was looking for a guitarist who would commit to a journey and a whole experience; who kicks ass, rocks hard and looks tight.... (thats me)
The next day Ben called me and asked if i would want to give it a shot. Come down to the space and jam a few songs he said. My reply was: well of course, i would love to. No strings attached of course; cos u know musicians and commitment....two things that dont really work well together...so u gotta have an exit strategy. After jammin the songs, we just knew that that was it. Of course we both agreed that we should give it a shot and perform and travel to see how we feel before making a full fledged commitment. So we did. Three months later things felt even better and better, more natural. We started working on new songs together and playing more and more. The pieces were falling into the right place. In January, a long-awaited record deal came to fruition. Signed, sealed, delivered; Running Still didnt intend to be still in any way that dealt with music. Beautiful new songs, an amazing collaboration with Robert Wyatt and a recording session would be the building blocks of our debut album.
Yesterday, Day 1 of the final step (the recording) ended. How do we feel? Well, wait till you hear it; you will know..... But i can tell you this: we cant wait to be done, and be on the road performing and doing what we love the most.
Sharing the love and music with all of you.
R.

Here We Go!

Greetings Still-heads!

I'm writing to you on the eve of basic tracking for our full-length debut and, as expected, I can't seem to fall asleep. I'm currently zoned out here in front of my computer, enjoying "The Last Waltz," because Levon's grooves make the best late-night company. Can't wait to check out the new Stones flick. Which reminds me... have you heard the new Raconteurs album yet? I digress...

The point of this entry is to let you know that 2008 is shaping up to be a fine year for Running Still. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this motley crew via Craig's List in early January, and we've been busy rockin' and rollin' ever since. It's exciting and inspiring to be part of a group with such great musicians, artists and human beings. But that's enough of that.

This record is going to flip you out. The tunes are fantastic, the band is tight, the ideas keep flowing, and we haven't even started recording yet. After it's finished, we'll be hitting the road to get the word out to every citizen of these here United States... and BEYOND!! You can expect to hear it digitally sometime in July, but all of you collectors will have to wait till August 19 for the hard copy.

That's it from me. Hope to meet you all at a show sometime soon, and thanks to everyone who joined us at Pianos a few weeks back! Until next time...

Peace, love, etc.,
Zach Jones, Esq.
